Hamilton Tony winner Daveed Diggs is set to star in the new Snoot Entertainment film Blindspotting, which he will also cowrite with costar Rafael Casal. According to Deadline, the movie will be directed by music video director Carlos Lopez Estrada, who will make his feature film debut with the project.

Blindspotting will be loosely based on Diggs and Casal's own personal experiences growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area. It will also feature Diggs's Hamilton costar Jasmine Cephas Jones as well as Janina Gavankar, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Ethan Embry, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kevin Carroll, Nyambi Nyambi, Jon Chaffin, and Wayne Knight. Keith Calder and Jessica Calder, of Snoot Entertainment, are producing the film.

Diggs is best known for originating the role of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the Broadway musical Hamilton, for which he earned a Tony Award. He has since appeared on Netflix's The Get Down and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and on ABC's Black-ish. Casal got his start performing on three seasons of HBO’s Def Poetry. Together with Diggs, he hosts the #BARS Workshops at the Public Theater.
