Hairspray and Dear Evan Hansen Scribes Team Up for New Musical Movie

Dear Evan Hansen book writer Steven Levenson will team up with Hairspray scribes Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman for a film version of the book Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age Of Industrial Musicals. According to Deadline, the film, with a screenplay by Levenson and songs by Shaiman and Wittman, will be developed with actors Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig attached.
Written by Steve Young and Mike Murphy, Everything Is Coming Up Profits details the little-known story of how corporate America employed Broadway talent to create industrial shows to help motivate sales forces and educate employees on products from the 1950s-1980s.
No timeline has been set for release. Marc Platt will produce.
