A scrumptious and sumptuous complimentary buffet supper starts off the event, then "on with the show!" with a highly entertaining, family-friendly Rudie-DeCarlo musical revue, with prizes, sing-a-long songs, dancing in the aisles, humor, and other delights culled from five decades of Santa Monica Playhouse productions. This show has it all! Add champagne, nonalcoholic sparkling cider, hats, tiaras, leis, noisemakers, and surprises, and you have a not-to-be-missed New Year's Eve celebration. The 9:30pm show features a midnight meet 'n' greet with the cast. The 6pm show is perfect for the entire family to celebrate New Year's Eve together. And the special pre-New-Year's-Eve show on Saturday, December 30, at 7:30pm gives you an extra chance to celebrate!
The plot of A Christmas Carol follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge (played in this production by Van Norden), who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley (Spano) and three spirits, who show him the error of his ways. Drawing upon the rich language of Charles Dickens's novel, this production is presented in a storytelling style in which actors play multiple characters and also narrate their thoughts and actions. The lack of a fourth wall allows the audience to be a part of Scrooge's inner journey as he discovers the joy and meaning of Christmas.
Clint Holmes — recently voted "Best Singer" in both New York (Broadway World) and Las Vegas (Las Vegas Review-Journal) — returns to the Wallis after his incredible appearance in our Mancini Delivered benefit concert. Clint Holmes's Sorting Room debut will feature jazz standards, reinvented classics, and music from his highly acclaimed album Rendezvous, with a strong possibility a special guest or two will jump into jam. Rex Reed says Holmes is "Vegas energy meets NY sophistication." Now he'll just add the L.A. coolness.
Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Liz Callaway brings her critically acclaimed holiday show Celebrate! to the Sorting Room for one night only. The festive evening will feature songs from her Christmas album Merry & Bright, as well as personal favorites by Stephen Sondheim, Richard Rodgers, Ahrens and Flaherty, and more!
While there are plenty of entertainment venues in SoCal for children and families, there are very few for just grown ups. Teatro Martini is a new, edgy, fun, interactive experience for grown-ups that merges upscale dining with spicy, but not too spicy, entertainment for couples and groups. Grown-ups love the spicy non-stop comedy, fun interactive experience and fantastic dining. Acrobatics, world class magic, great singing and dancing for the demanding Southern California entertainment marketplace were also added. The food is grown-up gourmet, too, served in a cozy, dinner cabaret environment for just 200 people.
