Tony Award nominee Ethan Hawke will appear in the forthcoming movie remake of Total Recall, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The sci-fi action film will star Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid, a man with implanted memories who begins to believe he is a spy, but is uncertain which side he works for. The original 1990 movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, and was based on Philip K. Dick’s story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.”
Hawke received a Tony nomination for his work in the Coast of Utopia trilogy, with other stage credits as an actor including Blood From a Stone, Hurlyburly, and The Winter’s Tale. He has also directed works for the stage, including the New Group’s production of Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Training Day.
