Circle Mirror Transformation begins performances tonight at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

The play, bt Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker (The Flick), tells the story of a creative drama class at a local community center. The class, run by middle-aged bohemian Marty, is an unlikely assortment of small-town Vermonters: a recently divorced carpenter, a high school junior, a former actress, and Marty’s own husband. As they tackle Marty’s imaginative, improvisational, and sometimes awkward theater games, their real lives gradually infiltrate the classroom — inspiring transformations both personal and profound.

The cast comprises Keith Reddin, Brenda Withers, Tonye Patano, Jeff Hayenga, and Jeanna Phillips. Meredith McDonough directs.

The creative team includes scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Kathleen Geldard, lighting design by Paul Toben, and sound design by Lindsay Jones.

Performances continue through February 12.
