The American classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starts its run at Round House Theatre this evening.

Brick and his wife Maggie "the Cat" are headed back to his childhood home, the Southern plantation presided over by Big Daddy, the family patriarch, and his wife, Big Mama. The family gathers together to stake their claim to part of the aging Big Daddy’s estate. But it’s clear that all is not well with Brick and his beautiful but sexually frustrated wife. As everyone scrambles to secure their part of the inheritance, old tragedies are brought back to life, and strained relationships come to a climax as Brick’s secrets are revealed.

Tennessee Williams’ drama is directed by Mitchell Hébert, and features Alyssa Wilmoth Keegan, Gregory Wooddell, Marni Penning, Todd Scofield, Rick Foucheux, Sarah Marshall, Tom Truss, and Stephen Patrick Martin.

The creative team includes Meghan Raham (set design), Ivania Stack (costume design), Andrew R. Cissna (lighting design), Christopher Baine (sound design), Kasey Hendricks (props master), and Brent Stansell (dramaturg).

Performances will run through April 24.
