The Hypocrites Bring a Gilbert and Sullivan Double Header to the Olney

”The Pirates of Penzance” and ”The Mikado” will be performed in repertory.

Chicago-based troupe The Hypocrites bring their productions of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado to the Olney Theatre Center starting tonight. The operettas, playing in rep through August 21, are adapted and directed by founding artistic director Sean Graney and codirected by Thrisa Hodits, with new arrangements by Matt Kahler and Andra Velis Simon.

The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance feature 10 actors playing their own instruments under Simon's musical direction. The 10-member ensemble cast includes Mario Aivazian, Kate Carson-Groner, Eduardo Xavier Curley-Carrillo, Matt Kahler, Brian Keys, Amanda Raquel Martinez, Tina Muñoz-Pandya, Dana Omar, Shawn Pfautsch, and Lauren Vogel.
