Life will be a cabaret at the State Theater on May 11, when Liza Minnelli will headline their 25th annual benefit gala. Minnelli, a Tony, Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Emmy Award-winning entertainer will perform with a 7 piece band.

The Benefit Gala, the State Theatre’s biggest annual event, supports the theater’s acclaimed programming and nationally recognized education programs. A portion of each ticket price will be used as a tax-deductible contribution to the State Theatre.

Ann H. Asbaty and Efrem B. Dlugacz are being honored for their support of the arts. The Star-Ledger, New Jersey’s largest local newspaper, will receive the Leadership in the Arts award.

Liza Minnelli was the youngest person to ever win a Tony Award for her leading role in Flora the Red Menace. On Broadway, she also appeared in Chicago, The Rink, Victor/Victoria, The Act and most recently Liza’s at the Palace. She won an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for her performance as Sally Bowles in the film of Cabaret, and also appeared in Arthur and Arthur 2. Liza with a Z produced a Top 20 album and won the Emmy for Outstanding Single Program and a Peabody Award.
