Michael Shannon to Return to the Stage in McCarter's Simpatico
Tony and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon will return to the stage in the McCarter Theatre Center's upcoming production of Sam Shepard's Simpatico. Presented by Chicago's A Red Orchid Theater, the production, directed by Dado, will run September 8-October 8.
The McCarter's upcoming season will also include Randy Johnson's musical A Night With Janis Joplin (October 10-29); A Christmas Carol, adapted by David Thompson and directed by Adam Immerwahr (December 5-31); Stones in His Pockets by Marie Jones and directed by Lindsay Posner (January 12-February 11); Regina Taylor's Crowns (March 13-April 1); and Christopher Durang's new play Turning Off the Morning News, directed by Emily Mann (May 4-June 3).
"With extraordinary performances, timely new work, and a generous dose of live music, this upcoming season truly has something for everyone whether they be a first time visitor or a long-time supporter," artistic director Mann said in a statement. "We want our audiences to not only have a great night out, but to open themselves to new perspectives. McCarter is committed to serving as a place where artists and audiences alike can gather to celebrate, to discuss, and to share experiences together. I cannot wait to begin."
