Charles Grodin Will Perform Solo Show to Benefit Long Wharf

Actor-director-playwright Charles Grodin will give a special benefit performance of his solo show An Evening with Charles Grodin at New Haven’s Long Wharf Theatre at 7pm on Monday, January 22.

In the show, Grodin will talk about his adventures on stage and in Hollwyood, his turn as a commentator on CBS’ 60 Minutes II, his work as an author and playwright, and being the host of his own talk show.

Grodin appeared on Broadway in such shows as Tchin-Tchin, Absence of a Cello, and Same Time, Next Year; he also directed the Broadway productions of Lovers and Other Strangers and Thieves. His work as a playwright includes The Right Kind of People and The Prosecution of Brandon Hein.

Among the many films in which he has appeared are Catch-22, The Heartbreak Kid, Heaven Can Wait, Midnight Run, Ishtar, and Beethoven. He also starred in the 1977 film version of Thieves opposite Marlo Thomas, and was seen in a 1983 TV version of the play Charley’s Aunt.
