Tony Award winner Cherry Jones will extend her run as Sister Aloysius in the national tour of John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt through May 20. She was scheduled to conclude her part of the tour in Providence, Rhode Island, but she will now star in the tour’s stops in Charlotte, North Carolina (April 17-22), Tampa, Florida (April 24-29), Baltimore, Maryland (May 1-13), and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (May 15-20).

Doubt tells the story of a Bronx Catholic school principal, Sister Aloysius, who becomes convinced that the church’s priest and teacher, Father Flynn, has molested a young African-American student. The play won the Tony Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and many other honors. The national tour, which is directed by Doug Hughes, also features Chris McGarry (Father Flynn), Lisa Joyce (Sister James), and Caroline Stefanie Clay (Mrs. Muller).

Jones won her second Tony Award for creating the role of Sister Aloysius; she previously won for The Heiress. Her many other Broadway credits include Faith Healer, Imaginary Friends, A Moon for the Misbegotten, and Major Barbara. Her other stage credits include Pride’s Crossing, Flesh and Blood, and The Baltimore Waltz.
