John Shea will star in the New York premiere of Israel Horovitz’s The Secret of Mme. Bonnard’s Bath, which will run February 3-24 at the Theatre Row’s Kirk Theatre, with an official opening slated for February 8.

The production, which will be directed by Horovitz, is the first one from the New York Playwrights Lab. It will also star Michael Bakkensen and Stephanie Janssen. The play concerns two young art students who must discover a revised painting by the French artist Pierre Bonnard. Horovitz is the author of more than 50 plays, including Park You Car in Harvard Yard, Line, North Shore Fish, and The Indian Wants the Bronx.

Shea’s many New York stage credits include Yentl, for which he won the Theatre World Award, Romeo & Juliet, End of the World, American Days, The Sorrows of Stephen, and The Dining Room, in which he also appeared in the 1984 television version. His film and television credits include Missing, Baby M, Lois & Clark: The Adventures of New Superman, and Mutant X.
