Theater favorites Ryan Duncan and Capathia Jenkins will be among the stars of Emerging Artists Theatre’s Triple Threat, a series of three plays to run in repertory February 5-March 4 at Theatre 5 (311 West 43rd Street).

Jenkins, who recently closed on Broadway in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, will play Oscar winner Hattie McDaniel in (mis)Understanding Mammy, by Joan Ross Sorkin. This play with music looks at the life of McDaniel, the actress who was derided by the NAACP for her many portrayals of maids and nannies, including the role of Mammy in Gone with the Wind, for which she became the first African-American to win an Academy Award. The show will be directed by David Glenn Armstrong, with musical supervision by Lance Horne.

Duncan, who was the original Juan in the Off-Broadway production of Altar Boyz, will co-star in Jeff Hollman’s Real Danger, to be directed by EAT’s artistic director Paul Adams. The play concerns the surprise reunion between two old college friends. Eric Chase and Carol Monda also star.

The series’ third play, Carl Gonzalez’ Elephant Girls, directed by Derek Jamison, concerns a Kozy Kitchen party that’s interrupted by an unexpected guest. The cast features Sara Aziz, Amy Bizjak, Glory Gallo, Lue McWilliams, Vivian Meisner, and Gameela Wright.

The creative team for the series includes Robert Monaco (sets), Amy Elizabeth Bravo (costumes), Jenny Granarud (lighting), and Ned Thorne (sound).
