Andy Karl to Play Fiyero in Broadway’s Wicked

Andy Karl will assume the role of Fiyero in the Broadway production of Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre on February 2. He will replace Kevin Kern, whose final performance is January 31.

Karl originated the roles of Luke in Altar Boyz, Joe in 9 to 5, and the UPS Guy in Legally Blonde. His other stage credits include The Wedding Singer, Saturday Night Fever, Disney’s On the Record, and Stephen Sondheim’s Saturday Night.

Wicked also stars Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Rondi Reed (Madame Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (The Wizard), Alex Brightman (Boq), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), and Timothy Britten Parker (Dr. Dillamond). Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
