Chicago Revival to Become Sixth Longest-Running Show in Broadway History on January 12

The Tony Award-winning revival of the musical Chicago, currently performing at the Ambassador Theatre, will become the sixth longest running production in Broadway history on Tuesday, January 12.
At that time, it will reach 5, 462 performances, surpassing the run of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which ran for 5,461 performances. The top five longest-running productions are The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Les Misearables, A Chorus Line, and Oh! Calcutta.
Chicago, which features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, has been directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
The Broadway production currently stars Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as Roxie Hart, Deidre Goodwin as Velma Kelly, Brent Barrett as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Roz Ryan as Matron “Mama” Morton. Obba Babatunde will take over the role of Billy Flynn, January 10-17, during Barrett’s vacation.
As previously announced, Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams will take over the role of Roxie Hart for a seven-week engagement beginning Monday, February 8.
