Broadway's brightest are coming together in support of Newtown, Connecticut, as residents recover from the December 14 shooting that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School. From Broadway with Love: A Benefit Concert For Sandy Hook will take place on January 28 at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT. All proceeds and donations will go to United Way of Western Connecticut's Sandy Hook School Support Fund.
Broadway veterans scheduled to appear include Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens), Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell (Follies), and Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell (Kiss Me Kate). Additional performers include Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray movie), Tony Award nominee Philip Boykin (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess), Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris (Evita), Micky Dolenz (Aida), Linda Eder (Jekyll & Hyde), Tony Award nominee Robin de Jesus (In the Heights), Richard Kind (The Producers), Tony Award nominee Andrea McArdle (Annie), Isabela Moner (Evita), Alan Muraoka (Pacific Overtures), Julia Murney (Wicked), Seth Rudetsky (The Ritz), Tony Award nominee Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman (Hairspray), Tony Award nominee Frank Wildhorn (Bonnie and Clyde) as well as Lance Guest, Erik Hayden, Randy Redd, Dan Mills, and Victoria Matlock (Million Dollar Quartet). More performers will be announced soon.
Brett Boles (Foreverman) and Broadway producer Van Dean, both from the Newtown area, are the original conceivers of From Broadway with Love. The benefit concert will be directed by Michael Unger with certain segments directed by Jeff Calhoun, Stephen Nachamie, David Lee, and Daisy Prince.
