Lucky Guy Tickets Are Now On Sale

You can now buy tickets to see Academy Award winner Tom Hanks make his Broadway debut in Nora Ephron’s last play.

Tickets are now on sale to the general public for Lucky Guy, the final play of three-time Academy Award-nominated writer Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle). Two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) makes his Broadway debut.

As of this week, a large poster featuring Hanks now adorns the Broadhurst Theater, where you can also buy tickets at the box office. (But really, why would you when you can just buy them online from the comfort of your warm and cozy home or office?)

Set in the crime-ridden New York of the 1980s, Lucky Guy follows the true story of Mike McAlary, the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for New York Daily News. McAlary charismatically reported on police corruption, rising to prominence as a journalist only to face a libel suit that almost ended his career. Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe directs.

No stranger to the news business, Ephron worked as a reporter for the New York Post for five years and was briefly married (1976 – 1980) to investigative reporter Carl Bernstein, who along with Bob Woodward broke the Watergate Scandal. Her stage work includes the popular Love, Loss, and What I Wore, a play about women’s clothes and the memories they trigger. Ephron died of Leukemia in 2012.

Hanks will be joined onstage by Emmy nominee Maura Tierney (ER), playing the role of wife Alice McAlary and Tony Award nominee Courtney B. Vance (Fences) as editor Hap Hairston.

The cast also features Christopher McDonald (Chicago) as lawyer Eddie Hayes, Peter Gerety (The Lieutenant of Inishmore) as editor John Cotter, Peter Scolari (Sly Fox) as columnist Michael Daly, Michael Gaston (A Day in the Death of Joe Egg) as columnist Jim Dwyer, Dustyn Gulledge as Dino Tortoricci, Deirdre Lovejoy (The Gathering) as reporter Louise Imerman and editor Debbie Krenek, Danny Mastrogiorgio (Golden Boy) as reporter Bob Drury, Richard Masur (Democracy) as editor Jerry Nachman and editor Stanley Joyce, and Stephen Tyrone Williams (Harper Regan) as Abner Louima.

Lucky Guy features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, sound design by Scott Lehrer, lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, and projection design by batwin + robin productions.
