A Night With Janis Joplin to Move Out of Broadway's Lyceum Theatre in February

The Broadway production of A Night With Janis Joplin, which has been playing since October, is set to end its run at the Lyceum Theatre this February. According to producers, the show, which stars Mary Bridget Davies as Joplin, will reopen at a to-be-announced venue in March. Joplin is moving to make room for the previously announced Broadway run of Will Eno's The Realistic Joneses.

Tony Award nominee De'Adre Aziza (Passing Strange), Taprena Michelle Augustine (The Book of Mormon), Allison Blackwell, and Nikki Kimbrough join Davies as Joplin's backup singers, The Joplinaires, with Kacee Clanton and Alison Cusano understudying the title role.

The production takes audiences back to the height of Joplin's short career, where the music legend bears her soul through signature numbers like "Piece of My Heart," "Summertime," and "Cry Baby," with fanciful interludes from a few of her musical inspirations including Nina Simone, Etta James, and Aretha Franklin.

The Realistic Joneses will star Academy Award and Tony nominee Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, The Wild Party), Golden Globe Award winner Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Chicago), Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, August: Osage County), and Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Wrestler). The production, which follows two suburban couples whose relationships become deeply intertwined, has an opening night scheduled for April 6.
