ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop Seeks New Musicals

The ASCAP Foundation is seeking new musicals for its annual Musical Theatre Workshop. Directed by Broadway composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, the free workshop offers writers the opporunity to present selections from their original works in progress for professional critique by prominent composers, directors, and producers. It will be held at ASCAP’s New York offices at One Lincoln Plaza, starting at 7pm on April 28 and 28, May 11, 12, 18, and 19.

Writers who wish to apply for participation should submit a CD of four songs with lyric sheets, a brief description of each song as to its plot placement, a brief synopsis of the musical, and biographical information (including mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number) on the show’s composer, lyricist, and librettist. Space in the workshop is limited and submissions will not be returned.
