Angela Lansbury, Chita Rivera, Sam Waterston, and Karen Ziemba are among the stars who will honor the life and career of stage, film, and TV actor Jerry Orbach at a memorial service to be held at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street) on Thursday, March 24 at 2pm. A limited number of first-come, first-served tickets will be available to the public on the day of the event.

Orbach died on December 28 at age 69. According to the actor’s wife, Elaine, the March 24 gathering will be “a loving celebration of Jerry’s life, a salute to the many wonderful shows he did, and a testament to the incredible joy he brought to his family, friends, colleagues, and fans throughout his career. We chose the Richard Rodgers Theatre because Jerry and I met there in 1976 when we both appeared in Chicago. That theatre always had a special place in our hearts.”

Although Orbach was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Lennie Brisco on the long-running NBC TV series Law & Order, he originated roles in many major Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including The Fantasticks, Promises, Promises, and 42nd Street.
