Newcomers Max Crumm and Laura Osnes were voted by the viewers of the NBC reality series Grease: You’re the One That I Want to play Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski in the upcoming Broadway revival of hit 1972 musical Grease. The show will begin previews on July 24 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, with an official opening slated for August 19.

Producers have not announced official casting for the other roles. While some members of the show’s supporting cast appeared on the series finale this evening, they were not formally introduced. However, it appears that Broadway veterans Matthew Saldivar and Jenny Powers will be playing the pivotal roles of Kenickie and RIzzo.

As previously announced, the show will be directed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall, who served as one of three judges on the NBC series, along with producer David Ian and Grease co-creator Jim Jacobs. The revival’s creative team will also include Derek McLane (sets), Martin Pakledinaz(costumes), and Kenneth Posner (lighting).

The show will feature songs from both the original Broadway production and the 1978 motion picture version, including “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “Sandy,” and “You’re the One That I Want.”

Crumm, age 21, has previously appeared on stage in productions of Grease playing the roles of Doody and Kenickie. His other stage credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Sound of Music, and Into the Woods.

Osnes, age 20, has previously appeared on stage as Sandy in Grease in her home state of Minnesota, as well as productions of Peter Pan and Annie.
