Last night, Christopher Shinn’s new drama Dying City opened at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi Newhouse Theater. Seen here celebrating after the performance are stars Pablo Schreiber and Rebecca Brooksher with director James Macdonald.
Tony Award winner Liev Schreiber (Pablo’s half-brother) and girlfriend Naomi Watts were also on hand for the opening. The couple is expecting their first child later this year.
Also last night, The Public Theater held a special pre-opening party for its star-studded production of Shakespeare’s King Lear, following a preview performance. Here’s actress Phoebe Cates, whose husband, Kevin Kline, plays the title role.
The multi-talented Daphne Rubin-Vega is spending a lot of time at the Public: She’s starring there in the LAByrinth Theatre Company’s production of Jack Goes Boating opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman, and will appear at Joe’s Pub on April 9.
Among the other guests were the incredibly gifted Michael Stuhlbarg, who’s starring across town in the Atlantic Theater Company’s revival of The Voysey Inheritance…
…and the lovely Piper Perabo, currently on the big screen with Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore in Because I Said So.
On Thursday, the Roundabout Theatre Company debuted its production of Patrick Marber’s drama Howard Katz, with the great Alfred Molina in the title role.
The show’s supporting cast includes stage veterans Jessica Hecht, Alvin Epstein, and Elizabeth Franz.
The many luminaries on hand for the opening included Tony Award winner Jim Dale, last seen in the Roundabout’s revival of The Threepenny Opera…
…and the always delightful Polly Draper, best known for her work on the television series thirtysomething.
Last Monday, Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theatre held its annual winter gala at the beautiful Rainbow Room. The crowd was entertained by the marvelous cabaret singer Mary Cleere Haran and singer/dancer Josh Walden.
