The Broadway musical Curtains will play its final performance at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Sunday, June 29th at 3:00pm. At the time of its closing, the show will have played 26 previews and 511 regular performances.

Curtains is directed by Scott Ellis, with choreography by Rob Ashford, and features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb and a book by Rupert Holmes, based on an original book by Peter Stone. The musical is set in 1959 in Boston during the pre-Broadway tryout of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies onstage during the applause at the end of the show, the entire company and creative team are possible suspects; their various motives must be sorted out by a local detective who happens to be a musical theater fan.

The show stars David Hyde Pierce, Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba, Jason Danieley, Erin Davie, Edward Hibbert, John Bolton, Michael X. Martin, Michael McCormick, Noah Racey, Megan Sikora, and Gerry Vichi.

In his review of the Broadway production, David Finkle wrote, “The show’s creators have ladled on the razzle and the dazzle until they’ve fashioned a product that defies exiting consumers to say they haven’t been entertained. Only a curmudgeon — perhaps someone like this reviewer — could walk away muttering about the substitution of craft for inspired musical comedy art.”
