Ryan Silverman to Be Broadway Phantom‘s New Raoul

Ryan Silverman will take over the role of Raoul in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, currently performing at the Majestic Theatre, beginning April 24.

Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. It has production design by the late Maria Björnson, lighting by Andrew Bridge and sound by Martin Levan. Musical staging and choreography is by Gillian Lynne. Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Silverman previously played the role in the Las Vegas production, and succeeds current and long-time star Tim Martin Gleason, whose final performance will be April 23. He starred as Tony in the recent West End production of West Side Story, and other credits include the Broadway production of Cry Baby, the national tour of Mamma Mia!, and the Chicago production of Wicked. Silverman will also be a special guest at at James Barbour’s weekly concert series Love Songs at Sardi’s, on March 14.

The musical currently stars Howard McGillin in the title role with Marni Raab (Christine), George Lee Andrews (Monsieur André), David Cryer (Monsieur Firmin), Patricia Phillips (Carlotta), Evan Harrington (Piangi), and Polly Baird (Meg Giry). At certain performances, Elizabeth Loyacano plays Christine.
