The Art of Impressionism

Joan Allen, Jeremy Irons, Marsha Mason, Michael T. Weiss, Aaron Lazar, and Andre De Shields discuss their reasons for appearing in Michael Jacobs’ new Broadway play.

In a Broadway season dominated by revivals, the world premiere of Michael Jacobs’ drama Impressionism, now at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, is an event in and of itself. And if that wasn’t enough, the show — about an art gallery owner and a photojournalist — also marks the long-awaited return to the Great White Way of Tony Award winners Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons, aided by such A-list supporting players as Marsha Mason, Michael T. Weiss, Aaron Lazar, and Andre De Shields. TheaterMania recently spoke to these talented thespians about their participation in this exciting new work.
