Tickets are now on sale at the Marquis Theatre Box Office for Jekyll & Hyde The Musical, returning to the Broadway stage after its original four-year run from 1997-2001. The production, featuring book and lyrics by Oscar and Grammy winner Leslie Bricusse and music by Tony and Grammy nominee Frank Wildhorn, is set to begin previews on April 5 and to open on April 18 for a 13-week limited engagement run. The show features American Idol alum turned Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) who will lead the cast in the title role(s) of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde while Grammy nominated recording artist Deborah Cox will co-star in the role of Lucy. In addition to Maroulis and Cox, the cast will feature Teal Wicks (Wicked) as Emma Carew, Laird Mackintosh (Mary Poppins) as John Utterson, Richard White (Most Happy Fella) as Sire Danvers Carew, and David Benoit (Avenue Q) as the Bishop and Spider.
Jekyll & Hyde The Musical, based on the novella Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, tells the story of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a devoted scientist, who is determined to find solutions to some of mankind's most challenging medical dilemmas. Facing resistance from the powers that be, he makes himself the subject of his own experiments, which leads him to accidentally unleash his inner demons in the form of his alter-ego, Mr. Hyde.
Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies) will lend new direction and choreography to the production, along with scenic and costume design by Tobin Ost (Newsies), lighting design by Jeff Croiter (Peter and the Starcatcher), sound design by Ken Travis (Memphis), projection design by Daniel Brodie (Godspell), hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe (Clybourne Park), and music direction by Steve Landau (Big River).
