Donny Osmond will play Gaston in Beauty and the Beast in the show’s final Broadway performance on July 29. Osmond previously played the role for four months at the end of 2006.

The singer made the announcement from the stage of Feinstein’s at the Regency on the opening night of his week-long engagement of Love Songs of the ’70s. The show, based on the just-released CD of the same title, features Osmond singing covers of such hits as “If,” “Let’s Stay Together,” and “You Are So Beautiful,” as well as his own past hits, including “Puppy Love.”

Beauty and the Beast officially opened at the Palace Theatre on April 18, 1994 and transferred to the Lunt-Fontanne on November 11, 1999. At the time of its closing, it will have played 56 previews and 5,464 performances. Directed by Robert Jess Roth, the show has a book by Linda Woolverton and a score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice. It received nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, but won only for Ann Hould-Ward’s costume design.
