Plays by Brooke Berman, Crystal Skillman and More Set for MCC Theater’s PlayLab Readings

MCC Theater has announced the plays to be given staged readings as part of the company’s spring 2012 PlayLab reading series, which will take place Mondays April 16-May 7 at 7pm.

The plays, written by four members of the MCC’s Playwrights’ Coalition, include the story of two best friends who decide to swap apartments for the summer, My New Best Friend (April 16) by Brooke Berman. Next, Evan Caccioppoli will direct Crystal Skillman’s play about love and desperation Wild (April 23). Mike Donahue will direct The Interview (April 30) by Alex Lewin, a play about two people discovering startling, overlapping threads in their private lives. To end the spring series, PlayLab will present Blair Singer’s Frauds (May 7), which focuses on a once hopeful actress whose dreams have given way to a stalled career and an unhappy marriage.

The Playwrights’ Coalition is a diverse group of talented playwrights. The Coalition’s programs give writers the resources and support to generate, develop, and showcase new work.
