EXCLUSIVE: Step Inside Inishmaan With the Broadway Design Team

”The Cripple of Inishmaan” designers talk about bringing Ireland to the Cort Theatre.

Martin McDonagh's dark comedy The Cripple of Inishmaan is now enjoying a limited Broadway run, with Daniel Radcliffe in the central role of "Cripple" Billy Claven. The play takes place off the western coast of Ireland on the Aran Island of Inishmaan in a small, claustrophobic community filled with snickering busybodies from whom Billy desperately wants to escape. The production offered TheaterMania an exclusive look inside the making of this unique environment on the stage of Broadway's Cort Theatre. Take a look as Tony-winning scenic and costume designer Christopher Oram and Tony-winning lighting designer Paule Constable describe how they translated this distinctive world to the stage. Alex Baranowski's original music, which is featured in the production, sets the Irish scene as Oram and Constable discuss the ins and outs of constructing the intimate set.
