Broadway's Newsies The Musical has announced that Jeremy Greenbaum will temporarily join the show's cast, beginning this evening and continuing through May 18. Greenbaum, making his Broadway debut, will step into the role of Davey for Ben Fankhauser, who originated the part.

Newsies opened at the Nederlander Theatre in March 2012 and went on to win Tony Awards for Best Original Score Written for the Theatre and Best Choreography. It features music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by Harvey Fierstein. The musical, inspired by the 1992 film of the same name, tells the story of a group of tenacious newsboys at the turn of the last century who band together to form a union and lead a strike after selling prices are raised.

The Broadway company of Newsies also features Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Liana Hunt as Katherine, LaVon Fisher-Wilson as Medda Larkin, Andy Richardson as Crutchie, and Luca Padovan and Zachary Unger alternating the role of Les.

Jeremy Greenbaum's off-Broadway credits include The Fantasticks and Prospect Theater Company's Tamar of the River.
