Following an engagement at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Florida, Richard Alfieri’s new comedy Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks will be coming to Broadway this fall, starring Rue McClanahan and Mark Hamill. The theater where it will play and other details will soon be announced.

The play tells the story of a Florida retiree (McClanahan) who hires an acerbic dance instructor (Hamill). Though, at first, the two could not seem more dissimilar, they soon learn that they have more in common than they thought and they begin to nurture the seeds of friendship.

McClanahan, well known for her role on the long-running TV series The Golden Girls, co-starred in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s recent revival of The Women and has also appeared on Broadway in California Suite, Sticks and Bones, Father’s Day, and Jimmy Shine. Hamill, famous as Luke Skywalker in the first three Star Wars films, has starred on Broadway in The Nerd, Harrigan ‘n Hart, Amadeus, and The Elephant Man.

The director of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, Arthur Allan Seidelman, has been active in recent years as a director for the Reprise! series of musical revivals in Los Angeles and has also worked on Broadway (Vieux Carré and Billy).
