Richard Thomas will play the role of Touchstone, the clown, in the Public Theater’s upcoming production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It.

The show will begin performances at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park on June 25 and will run through July 17. Directed by Mark Lamos, As You Like It will also star Lynn Collins as Rosalind, Brian Bedford as Jacques, James Waterston (son of actor Sam Waterston) as Orlando, Jenny Ikeda as Celia, and Jennifer Dundas as Phoebe.

Thomas was most recently seen in the Broadway production of Democracy. His Broadway career began in 1958 in Sunrise at Campobello, and his other New York appearances include Fifth of July, Tiny Alice, and The Stendhal Syndrome. He is best known for his role of John-Boy in the long-running TV series The Waltons, for which he won an Emmy Award in 1972.
