Ambrose, Manheim, Isaac to Star in Public’s Romeo & Juliet

Lauren Ambrose, Camryn Manheim, and Oscar Isaac will star in The Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Romeo & Juliet at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park, June 5-July 8.

The production will be directed by Michael Grief, who is currently represented on Broadway by Grey Gardens and Rent. Additional casting and creative team information will be announced at a later date.

The Public also announced that the second show of the 2007 Shakespeare in the Park season will be A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to be directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, August 6-September 9.

Ambrose, who will play Juliet, starred last season in Lincoln Center’s Tony-winning revival of Awake and Sing! and is best known for her role as Claire Fisher on HBO’s Six Feet Under. Manheim, who will play the Nurse, previously appeared in the Park in Twelfth Night and is best known for her Emmy Award-winning work on The Practice. Isaac, who will play Romeo, played Proteus in the Public’s 2005 revival of Two Gentlemen of Verona and starred in Manhattan Theatre Club’s Beauty of the Father. He recently was seen on the big screen as Joseph in The Nativity Story.
