Flashback Friday: Will the Tonys Throw Jason Robert Brown Another Parade in 2014?

Jason Robert Brown, writer of the Tony-nominated ”The Bridges of Madison County” score, received his first nod in 1999 for ”Parade”.

Jason Robert Brown's The Bridges of Madison County score has been nominated for practically every musical award New York has to offer in the past few weeks, including Drama Desks and Tonys. This is by no means the prolific songwriter's first nominations rodeo, however. Brown's first Tony nomination (and win) was 15 years ago for Best Original Musical Score for Parade, starring Brent Carver and Carolee Carmello. If you think Bridges' soaring songs about forbidden love are sad, take a listen to this heartbreakingly hopeful ballad from a musical that dramatizes the true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish-American factory superintendent wrongfully convicted of murder.
