Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Karl, Susan Stroman, and More Nominated for Astaire Awards

Nick Cordero, James Monroe Iglehart, and Casey Nicholaw are also in the running.

The nominees have been announced for the 32nd annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, which will be held on June 2 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The Astaire Awards are the only awards to honor excellence in dance and choreography on Broadway and in film.

The nominees for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show are Julius Chisolm (After Midnight), Nick Cordero (Bullets Over Broadway), Virgil Gadson (After Midnight), Jared Grimes (After Midnight), Neil Patrick Harris (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin), Andy Karl (Rocky), and Desmond Richardson (After Midnight).

The nominees for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show are Krystal Joy Brown (Big Fish), Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards (After Midnight), Karine Plantadit (After Midnight), Gayle Rankin (Cabaret), Monique Smith (After Midnight), Heléne Yorke (Bullets Over Broadway), and Karen Ziemba (Bullets Over Broadway).

The nominees for Outstanding Choreographer for a Broadway Show are Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin), Susan Stroman (Big Fish and Bullets Over Broadway), Warren Carlyle (After Midnight), Steven Hoggett and Kelly Devine (Rocky), Josh Prince (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Peggy Hickey (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), and Rob Marshall (Cabaret).

This year will also honor five-time Tony Award nominee and two-time Emmy Award-winning choreographer Pat Birch with its Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award, and dancer and dance instructor Luigi with the Outstanding Achievement in the Preservation of Musical Theatre Award.
