Marin Mazzie will be rejoining Brian Stokes Mitchell — with whom she has already appeared on Broadway in Ragtime and Kiss Me, Kate — when she assumes the role of Aldonza in the Broadway revival of Man of La Mancha on Tuesday, July 1.

Mazzie, a three-time Tony Award nominee for her performances in Passion, Ragtime, and Kiss Me, Kate will be taking over the role of the “kitchen slut reeking with sweat” who is transformed by the power of hope that Don Quixote (Mitchell) brings into her life. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio originated the role in the revival and will play her last performance on Sunday, June 29.

In their review of this production of Man of La Mancha for TheaterMania, Barbara and Scott Siegel wrote, “By all means, bring your young and impressionable sons and daughters to Man of La Mancha. This is the kind of theater that can change the course of someone’s life. It can instill unshakeable idealism, create a moral compass, or — if nothing else — establish a lifelong love affair with musical theater.”
