Ellis, Houdyshell, Tveit to Join Broadway’s Wicked in June

Award-winning British actress Kerry Ellis will take over the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, beginning June 17; the same day that Jayne Houdyshell returns to show as Madame Morrible. In addition, Aaron Tveit, who is currently appearing in Playwrights Horizons’ production of Saved, takes over the role of Fiyero on June 24.


Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The production will also feature Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda, Lenny Wolpe as the Wizard, Cristy Candler as Nessarose, Ben Liebert as Boq, and Steven Skybell as Dr. Dillamond.
