Dan Gordon, the playwright of Broadway’s Irena’s Vow, will receive Masterwork Productions, Inc.’s “The Lights are Bright on Broadway” Award, to be given to him following the Saturday, June 27 performance of the show at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

The award is given to individuals and organizations making a difference in the Broadway community through faith. Radio City Rockette Cheryl Cutlip, founder of Project Dance, will also receive the award.

Gordon’s drama, directed by Michael Parva, tells the story of Irena Gut Opdyke, who was forced to work as head housekeeper for a very prominent major, during the German occupation of Poland. Over a two year period of service, Irena would be confronted with the choice to protect twelve Jewish refugees who secretly fell under her care. The production, which stars Tovah Feldshuh in the title role, is set to conclude its Broadway run on June 28.
