Kathy Fitzgerald to Play Madame Morrible in Broadway’s Wicked

Kathy Fitzgerald will assume the role of Madame Morrible in the Broadway production of Wicked, running at the Gershwin Theatre, on June 29. She replaces Rondi Reed, who will play her final performance in the role on June 27.

Fitzgerald’s previous Broadway credits include 9 to 5 the Musical, The Producers and Swinging on a Star. Among her many other theater credits are Damn Yankees, Secrets Every Smart Traveler Should Know, and Mating Habits.

The actress joins a company which also features Mandy Gonzalez (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), P.J. Benjamin (The Wizard), Andy Karl (Fiyero), Alex Brightman (Boq), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose), and Timothy Britten Parker (Dr. Dillamond).

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
