George Clooney and Grant Heslov have signed on to prodcue the film version of Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County. John Wells will direct the film, which will star Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.

Streep’s many stage credits include Mother Courage and Her Children, The Seagull, Happy End, and The Cherry Orchard. She has won Academy Awards for her work in The Iron Lady, Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie’s Choice.

Roberts made her Broadway debut in Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain. For her film work, she received an Academy Award for her performance in Erin Brockovich and was nominated for Oscars for her work in Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman.
