Patti LuPone, Ethel Merman, Giorgio Tozzi to Be Featured on Upcoming Masterworks Broadway Releases

Masterworks Broadway has announced the three new titles that it will make available as digital downloads and disc-on-demand in the coming months.

On July 10, the label will release the Original Broadway Cast recording of Working. Based on the book by Studs Terkel, the show tells the story of average working people through original songs written by the show’s director, Stephen Schwartz, along with James Taylor, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead. Among the cast members of the show are Joe Mantegna, Lynne Thigpen, Bob Gunton and Patti LuPone.

The Original Broadway Cast recording of Irving Berlin’s Call Me Madam will be released on August 14, newly remastered from original tapes. Headlined by Ethel Merman, the show features such songs as “Can You Use Any Money Today?,” “The Best Thing for You,” and “You’re Just in Love.”

The third release is a 1959 recording of Sigmund Romberg’s Desert Song from 1959, featuring new arrangements by Lehman Engel, The performers include Giorgio Tozzi, Kathy Barr, and Peter Palmer.
