Before the show, audience members are encouraged to friend and follow the characters they will meet upon arrival at Fat Baby, the multilevel bar/lounge where the performance will take place. During the performance, they can interact with the characters as well as other patrons as they grab drinks, commiserate about their own dating woes, and choose which stories to follow.

The performance will feature over 40 characters performed by an ensemble that includes Samantha Amaral, Elle Anhorn, Matthew Cleaver, Jacqueline Guillen, Tim Haber, Stevi Incremona, Nick Lewis, Ben Maters, Penny Middleton, Lee Anne Mitchell, Dara Swisher, Tarion Taylor, Sharon Counts, Laura Delhauer, John Del Vecchio, Salvador Garcia, Ryan Rickenbach, and Ilana Warner.
The creative team for Play/Date includes lighting designer Ryan O'Gara, sound designer Marcello Añez, video designer Phillip Gulley, and costume designer Márion Talán.

Performances begin June 18 in advance of a July 16 opening.
