New York had a heat wave this week, but our photographers still managed to catch some really cool people in their lenses. On Tuesday, July 18, Haylie Duff — well known for her work on TV’s 7th Heaven and Joan of Arcadia, and a star of the upcoming films Material Girls, Legacy, and I Remember — gave her first performance as Amber Von Tussle in the Broadway smash Hairspray. Here’s a photo of Duff during the curtain call with Isabel Keating, who plays her mother, Velma.
After the show, a party was held at The Palm restaurant to celebrate Duff’s joining the cast. Here’s the new Broadway baby with her sister: film, TV, and recording star Hilary Duff.
And here’s the amazing Darlene Love, who plays Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is another long-running hit that had some cast changes this week. Among those celebrating the arrival of the new recruits at a party at Trattoria Dopo Teatro on Sunday, July 16 were Keith Carradine (left), the show’s new Lawrence Jameson, and Jonathan Pryce, who has just finished his critically acclaimed stint in the role…
…Lucie Arnaz, who recently took over the role of Muriel in the show…
…DRS director Jack O’Brien (left) and choreographer Jerry Mitchell (right) with Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz, who has just been replaced by Brian d’Arcy James in the role of Freddy Benson…
… and Rachelle Rak, a member of the DRS ensemble and one of the sexiest women on Broadway.
The following night — Monday, July 17 — Miss Lucie Arnaz gave an amazing concert at Birdland that had the packed, star-studded audience applauding and cheering wildly.
Arnaz’s show featured an extraordinary roster of guest stars including Julie Budd, Valarie Pettiford, Billy Stritch, the one and only Michele Lee (pictured here)….
…and the veteran songstress Phoebe Snow, who thrilled the crowd with her truly amazing set of pipes.
We leave you with this photo of Jersey Boys Daniel Reichard, John Lloyd Young, J. Robert Spencer, and Christian Hoff posing with Dan May’s new portrait of them, which was added to the Wall of Fame at Tony’s Di Napoli in a ceremony held at the restaurant last night.
