The award-winning musical In the Heights will open on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, with previews beginning February 14 and an official opening on March 9.

Featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, the production will once again be directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. Miranda will also reprise his starring role of Usnavi, which he played during the show’s Off-Broadway run at 37 Arts last season. Full casting will be announced at a later date.

The musical is about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan, and focuses on the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition.

The Off-Broadway production received numerous accolades, including Outer Critics and Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Musical and Choreography, Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Choreography and Ensemble Performance, Obie Awards for Outstanding Music and Lyrics, and Clarence Derwent and Theatre World Awards for Miranda.

The Broadway production will feature scenic design by Anna Louizos, costumes by Paul Tazewell, lighting by Howell Binkley, and sound by Acme Sound Partners.
