Kate Jennings Grant will play Diane Sawyer in the film version of Peter Morgan’s hit play, Frost/Nixon, to be directed by Ron Howard. Sawyer, now the co-host of ABCs Good Morning America, was a speechwriter for Richard Nixon in the 1970s.

As previously reported, 2007 Tony Award winner Frank Langella and Michael Sheen will reprise their stage roles as Nixon and British talk show host David Frost, who conducted a series of television interviews with the former U.S. president in 1977. The film’s supporting cast will include Kevin Bacon, Sam Rockwell, Oliver Platt, Matthew MacFayden, and Toby Jones.

Grant has starred on Broadway in Proof and An American Daughter. Her Off-Broadway appearances include Summer of ’42, Radiant Baby, The Beard of Avon, and Between Us. Grant’s previous film credits include United 93, When a Stranger Calls, and Kinsey.
