Mary Poppins to Become 30th Longest-Running Show in Broadway History

Mary Poppins will become the 30th longest-running show in Broadway history when it plays its 1,945th performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre on Saturday, July 16 at 2pm. The show opened on November 16, 2006.

Based on P.L. Travers’ cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, the show tells the tale of a most unusual nanny.


The show includes the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, as well as new songs and additional music and lyrics from the Olivier Award-winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The production is directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne.

The cast currently stars Ashley Brown in the title role, along with Gavin Lee as Bert, Karl Kenzler as George Banks, Megan Osterhaus as Winifred Banks, Valerie Boyle as Mrs. Brill, Ann Arvia as Bird Woman, Ruth Gottschall as Miss Andrew, Shua Potter as Robertson Ay, and Ed Dixon as Admiral Boom. Rozi Baker, Brigid Harrington, and Kara Oates alternate in the role of Jane Banks, and Lewis Crosso, David Gabriel Lerner and Anthony Scarpone-Lambert alternate as Michael Banks.
