Two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane suffered an injury during the July 24 evening performance of Broadway’s The Nance, Lincoln Center Theater has confirmed. The stage veteran, who won 2013 Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards for his performance as fading burlesque star Chauncey Miles, did not finish his performance, allowing standby Stephen DeRosa to perform the role for the rest of the show.

The extent of the injury — and whether Lane will return to the Lyceum Theatre for tonight’s show — is currently unknown. In a statement, a spokesperson for Lincoln Center Theater said, “Nathan Lane injured himself during last night’s show and was unable to finish the performance. We won’t know more until later today. Know that he is home resting.”

Douglas Carter Beane’s drama, directed by Jack O’Brien, also stars Jonny Orsini, Lewis J. Stadlen, Cady Huffman, Andréa Burns, Jenni Barber, Mylinda Hull, and Geoffrey Allen Murphy.
