The Amoralists, off-Broadway’s acclaimed downtown theater troupe, has announced casting for The Cheaters Club, the second and final production of its summer season.

Following a successful New York premiere of Mark Roberts’ dark comedy Rantoul and Die, the company will present a world premiere of Amoralists founder and resident playwright Derek Ahonen’s The Cheaters Club. Performances are scheduled to begin August 17 with an official opening set for August 27. The production will run through September 21 at the Abrons Arts Center.

A murder mystery set in Savannah, GA, the play follows siblings Tommy, Jimmy, and Cathy, along with a man named Vonn, who, as members of “The Cheaters Club,” go on yearly trips with the goal of “exorcising their sexual demons.” On this year’s trip, they find themselves at the haunted Chaney Inn, run by a mysterious family and their voodoo-ing housemaid.

The cast will include several Amoralists ensemble members including Byron Anthony, Wade Dunham, Edgar Eguia, James Kautz, David Lanson, Sarah Lemp, Judy Merrick, David Nash, Cassandra Paras, Matthew Pilieci, James Rees, Dan Stern, Kelley Swindall, Anna Stromberg, Jordan Tisdale and Vanessa Vaché. Additional cast members include Charlie Chase, Janette Johnson, Mackenzie Knapp, Zen Mansley, Serena Miller, Kat Murphy, Penny O’Brien, Nikki Pope, Ben Reno, and Haley Sullivan.

The creative team features set design by Alfred Schatz, lighting and projection design by Brad Peterson, costume design by Niiamar Felder, sound design by Phil Carluzzo, and choreography by Katy Correa.
