Lee Wilkof, Jesse Pennington, and More Cast in Playwrights Horizons' Bootycandy and Grand Concourse

New plays by Robert O’Hara and Heidi Schreck will kick off the season.

Lee Wilkof has been cast in the world premiere of Heidi Schreck's Grand Concourse, directed by Kip Fagan, at Playwrights Horizons.

Playwrights Horizons has announced initial casting for its upcoming 2014-15 season, including the shows Bootycandy and Grand Concourse.

The New York premiere of Bootycandy (August 22-October 12), a new play written and directed by Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara, will feature Benja Kay Thomas and Lance Coadie Williams. One final cast member will be announced in the coming weeks. In the play, Sutter (Brannon) is seen through a series of sketches that portray growing up gay and black.

The cast for the world premiere of Heidi Schreck's Grand Concourse will feature Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Bobby Moreno, and Lee Wilkof. One final cast member will be announced in the coming weeks. Kip Fagan will direct this play about Shelly (Bernstine), devoted manager of a Bronx soup kitchen, and Emma, an idealistic teenaged volunteer with mixed intentions.

As previously announced, the season will also include Pocatello by Samuel D. Hunter, Placebo by Melissa James Gibson, Iowa by Jenny Schwartz with music and lyrics by Todd Almond, and a new play to be announced by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Bruce Norris.
