Ana Gasteyer will take over the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked for a 13-week engagement, October 10-January 7, replacing Eden Espinosa.

Gasteyer first played Elphaba in the Chicago production of the show, for which performance she received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination. She has appeared on Broadway in The Threepenny Opera and The Rocky Horror Show; her other credits include the Off-Broadway plays Roulette and Kimberly Akimbo, the New York City Opera production of Cinderella, and The Actors’ Fund benefit concert of Funny Girl. Gasteyer is best known for her long-running stint on Saturday Night Live.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The Broadway production currently stars Kate Reinders, David Garrison, Carol Kane, Derrick Williams, Jenna Leigh Green, Logan Lipton, and Steven Skybell.
